About

Hello there! Thank you for visiting ⚡️ Made Alive!
I'm Jacob, a seminarian at Yale Divinity School preparing for ordination. Since 2021, I've been a deacon in the Lutheran Church, but my sense of call to ministry stretches back much farther back. If you'd like to read a little about that, check out this post, but I've been running away from that sense of call for a while. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to share my experiences with you, as I complete my education.
At school, I'll be focused on my faith formation, exploring theological study, and discerning my call to Word and Sacrament ministry. But through this blog, I can share my experiences, insights, and resources with you. Here's what you could expect to see:
- Sermons: Listen to the messages I've delivered, drawing from my study of God's Word, personal reflections, and the wisdom of the Saints.
- Blogs & Reviews: Join me as I engage in thoughtful exploration of books, movies, and other artistic works, uncovering their profound implications for the life of faith.
- Resources: Discover valuable tools, such as Bible study guides, explanation aids, and other materials designed to help deepen your understanding of Scripture and theology.
I am excited to see this site grow alongside my educational journey. In the coming months, I plan to populate it with much more content, including reviews of theological works, discussions on philosophical topics, and insights gained at divinity school.
Your support is invaluable to me. As a free subscriber, you'll get alerts about public posts. By becoming a paid subscriber, you'll not only gain access to exclusive personal content but also enable me to pour additional time and energy into refining and expanding the materials presented. Your engagement, comments, and questions are not just encouraged, but eagerly anticipated because the project of being "made alive" only happens as a community, together. Truly, it is only by walking with on another that we faithfully take up the eternal Word, which illumines our path, shining as a radiant lamp.
If you have questions, you might be able to find them on my FAQs page. Thank you for being here and for considering joining me along the way.
